A : Did you see all the birds flying south yesterday?

B : I love this time of year. Seeing the southern migration of Canadian geese is a most spectacular sight!

A : “어제 새들이 남쪽으로 날아가는 모습 보셨나요?”

B : “저는 매 해 이맘때가 참 좋습니다. 캐나다 거위들이 남쪽으로 이동해 가는 모습이 정말 장관이거든요!”

migration은 어원적으로 ‘여기저기 움직여 다닌다.’라는 뜻이다. 정의를 먼저 보면 ‘the act of moving from one place to another’ 한 장소에서 다른 장소로 옮겨 다니는 행위다. 다음 정의는 the process by which people or animals move to another place or country. ‘사람이나 동물이 다른 지역 또는 다른 나라로 움직여가는 과정, 즉 이주’라 할 수 있다.
